Activity Survival Kit for Children

Children will need to stay occupied so prepare for that too.

If you must leave your house for any period of time during a disaster, it’s wise to put together your own children’s Activity Survival Kit so you will have things to do and share with other kids. The kit can all be stored in a backpack or duffel bag for easy carrying. Some ideas for your Activity Survival Kit:

 

  • Take several books.
  • Favorite stuffed animal or puppet
  • Favorite blanket or pillow
  • Crayons, pencils, pens, paper, scissors and glue
  • A couple of favorite toys such as a doll or action figure
  • A deck of cards
  • Family pictures including pets
  • A treasure box with a few of their favorite items will make them feel special.
  • Small people figures and play vehicles that you can use to help play out what is happening during the disaster -- such as ambulance, fire truck, helicopter, dump truck, police car, and small boats.
